Solomon Muhumuza

Solomon is Cofounder & Chief Financial Officer at God's Hope for Uganda Families and holds a National Certificate in Accountancy from Rubindi Vocational and Business Institute

He is a self professed God-fearing man, who prior to enrolling in university was a teacher at Golden Heights and Dreamland Public Schools. In secondary school (grades 8-13), he was a Kupa President and served as Games & Sports Prefect.

Solomon is married and has three beautiful children: Solo-Lopes, Treaty and Amitai. His wife Anet is a business woman and farmer carrying out her activities in Nyakisi, Katooke in Kyenjojo district.

On a personal note, Solomon became an orphan at the age of 8 when both his parents tragically passed away. He knows what it means to grow up as an orphan and his dream is to come alongside all orphans, people with disabilities, and those who have no hope for a better future in Kyenjojo.

He aims to show them that God is with them and there is always hope. He has a passion for changing lives through mentorship and sponsorship (providing school fees and requirements) so that all children can gain an education in order to change their lives and have a positive impact within their community and country.

His prayer is that anyone reading this will join our family so that we can join hands to uplift these people and give hope to them. Thank you for reading this, and may God bless you!

Godfrey Nsenga

Godfrey is Cofounder & Chief Operating Officer at God's Hope for Uganda Families and holds a National Certificate in Nursing from Mayanja Memorial Medical Training Institute.

Godfrey was a Defence Minister in the Student Leadership Council at Mayanja Institute, as well as a coordinator in the Institute's Chapel. He ultimately plans on continuing his studies to pursue a Medical Degree focused on Pediatrics.

On a personal note, Godfrey’s father passed away from malaria when he was two weeks old. His mother Flavia did her best to raise him and his siblings in spite of frequent illnesses, difficult conditions, and extreme poverty. This made it impossible for her to satisfy the needs of their family and ultimately led to his acceptance into the Misenyi Home of Champions orphanage school, where he met Solomon.

Godfrey knows from firsthand experience how challenging it can be to obtain an education in Kyenjojo. Due to the region’s extreme poverty, even the bare necessities such as books and required uniforms can be an insurmountable cost for families to bear. His life’s passion is to help and uplift other people who are going through similar challenges to the ones he has overcome!

He is so excited to see a number of heartfelt people join us to make a change in the lives of our kids. May God bless you abundantly as you join our family!

Travis Lopes

Travis is Cofounder & Executive Director at God's Hope for Uganda Families, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Asbury University.

Travis got involved in the non-profit community during his first year at Asbury. He watched a documentary about Uganda called Invisible Children and began doing everything he could to help end the terrorist campaign of Joseph Kony who was kidnapping children in Northern Uganda and forcing them to become concubines and child soldiers.

During his four years at university, Travis slept outside at rallies and marched in the streets to raise awareness, and spoke with his elected representatives on Capitol Hill in Washington DC to promote legislation to help the situation. Ultimately, due to mounting social pressure and the efforts of many volunteers and non-profit organizations, global leaders called for Kony’s arrest and worked with the Ugandan government to end his reign of terror.

After experiencing firsthand the ability of nonprofits to create change, Travis felt God’s calling to work in the non-profit community in Uganda. Upon graduation from University in 2008, he took a trip there and befriended his future cofounders Solomon & Godfrey when they were students at the Misenyi Home of Champions orphanage school in Kyenjojo. They stayed in touch, and 10 years later founded God’s Hope for Uganda Families together.

On a personal note, Travis grew up in a poor family in Northern Brazil & rural New Mexico and understands how blessed he was to be born to an American mom (and be eligible for an American passport). Because of his experiences, he believes that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. He feels a responsibility to pay it forward and help as many people as possible have access to opportunities to improve their lives.
